Life on Wilson Island is guided by a deep respect for its natural environment. Recognised through our Advanced Ecotourism Certification, this approach helps preserve the island’s unique ecosystem for generations to come.
Solar-Powered Island Living
Wilson Island is powered primarily by solar energy, supported by a backup diesel generator when required. This hybrid system helps reduce our environmental footprint while providing reliable power for guests and essential island operations. A 12V charging point for personal devices is available in the Longhouse.
Water Conservation
Fresh water is carefully managed on Wilson Island. Water-saving initiatives help minimise consumption while ensuring a comfortable guest experience.
No Single-Use Plastics
Wherever possible, single-use plastics have been replaced with reusable alternatives, helping reduce waste across the island.
Eco-Friendly Amenities
Everyday essentials have been thoughtfully selected with the island’s natural environment in mind, from reef-safe toiletries to environmentally responsible cleaning products. Guests are welcome to bring their own sunscreen, provided it is oxybenzone-free, or simply make use of the complimentary reef-safe sunscreen available throughout the island.
Supporting Australian Businesses
Where possible, Wilson Island sources products and supplies from Australian businesses, supporting local communities while helping reduce transport impacts.
Protecting Wildlife
Wilson Island is home to nesting turtles, seabirds and vibrant marine life. Guests are encouraged to explore the island with care, helping protect the wildlife and reef ecosystem that make this place so special.
